# Self directed with rental

Hi Mark and Matt! Love the show. It has helped us tremendously in planning out our retirement, oil investing, so much value you both bring to investors!

my question: I have a self directed acct with directedira. I put the rental duplex under the ira. We are getting the place ready for rent. Should I add solar panels? Do we get to write off this?  
im thinking no because we dont get to deduct anything from these rentals.
